About this role
Reporting to the Assistant Director, the APS6 Learning and Career Counsellor is responsible for supporting the development of workforce capability through the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of career development resources, learning materials, and employee development initiatives. Working collaboratively with business areas as well as learning and development specialists, you will create and promote career support resources that guide employees who support job seekers to obtain employment.
You will contribute to the design, delivery, and evaluation of career development initiatives, facilitate workshops and learning activities, and provide subject matter expertise on contemporary career development practices and workforce trends.
Responsibilities of the APS6 Learning and Career Counsellor include:
• Provide support to frontline staff to drive individual career support, coaching, and guidance services to job seekers, building their capability to deliver customer-focused services and support customer success. • Support staff to deliver strengths-based conversations to job seekers aligned with organisational opportunities, workforce requirements, and tailored goal setting. • Design, develop, and facilitate sessions, learning resources, and capability-building activities that support staff to identify strengths, interests, values, and development needs when engaging in service delivery interactions. • Provide advice and guidance to staff and managers on career development resources, capability development frameworks and learning opportunities, to support job seeker mobility pathways. • Contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of workforce capability programs, learning initiatives, and development activities that build individual and organisational capability. • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support the development and delivery of workforce capability and learning initiatives. • Research and apply contemporary learning, capability development, and adult education practices to inform the design of resources, programs, and development solutions. • Maintain accurate records, program documentation, resource repositories, evaluation reports, and related information in accordance with legislative, privacy, and organisational requirements. • Provide professional advice and recommendations to managers and senior stakeholders on career support focused workforce capability priorities, learning strategies, development pathways, and capability-building initiatives. • Exercise sound judgement in the development of career support resources, capability solutions, and professional advice relating to job seeker development. • Contribute to administrative and coordination activities that support the effective delivery of learning and development services across the branch. • Uphold APS Values and the APS Code of Conduct while supporting staff, contributing to organisational priorities and workforce capability development.
