Cost Controller

About this role

You may have been part of some big projects before, but this work is legacy-building. You'll make a tangible impact on the people of NSW, using your finance and accounting skills to help build a sustainable and thriving transport network for generations to come. In this role, you'll: Be supporting the Senior Cost Controller on the Regional Rail and Future Fleet infrastructure projects. You will provide end-to-end cost management support across both projects ensuring cost information is accurate, timely, and aligned with project objectives. More specifically you will: * Implement and maintain project cost control plans and work breakdown structures. * Assist with managing project actuals and forecasts, annual budgets and Estimate at Completion (EAC) throughout the project lifecycle. * Develop cost forecasts and time-phased financial plans aligned to project schedules and procurement activities. * Support project change control processes, resource forecasting and cost reconciliation activities. * Ensure project cost data is accurately captured, maintained and reported within relevant systems and tools. * Monitor commitments, actual expenditure, contingencies, risks, opportunities and forecast costs. * Prepare regular and ad hoc cost performance reports to support project and program decision-making. * Manage monthly accruals, cost recoveries, budget transfers and project financial close activities. * Build effective working relationships across project, commercial, finance and stakeholder groups to support project success. For more information on this position and business unit, view the role description and information pack About you You are a proactive and detail-oriented cost management professional with experience working in complex, high-risk project environments. You have strong analytical and financial management skills, the ability to communicate cost management concepts to diverse stakeholders, and a track record of delivering accurate financial information that supports project performance and governance. To succeed in this role, you will have: * Demonstrated experience in cost management, project controls, financial analysis or a related discipline. * Strong understanding of cost forecasting, budgeting, financial reporting and cost risk management practices. * Proven ability to work effectively in complex environments and adapt to changing priorities and project requirements. * Advanced Excel skills * Ability to influence and communicate financial information clearly to stakeholders with varying levels of financial knowledge. * Strong attention to detail, analytical capability and commitment to delivering quality outcomes. * Experience using financial, project controls and reporting systems, such as PMWeb and SAP to support project delivery. * Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience in a related field.
