About this role
Nimbin Central School is a K-12 school located 31kms from Lismore and 34kms from Kyogle in a sub-tropical hinterland on the far north coast, sharing a rich cultural connection with the Widgibal people of the Bundjalung nation. There are approximately 240 students at the school including 18% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student population. The school is well resourced and has dedicated staff that know, value and care for all students. The school values diversity, creative and critical thinking and fosters a culture of collaboration and consultation between staff, students and the wider community.
In addition to the general selection criteria, 1. High level organisational skills with a proven ability to lead the complex and competing priorities of the day-to-day operations of a K-12 school with sensitivity, professionalism and integrity in line with Department of Education policies and procedures. 2. Demonstrated ability to provide visible and effective leadership to initiate, lead and monitor dynamic and inclusive initiatives that cater for students from a diverse range of backgrounds, with a commitment to continuing and enhancing student wellbeing initiatives. 3. Proven capacity to build a positive, inclusive, high-expectations school culture that promotes wellbeing, belonging and success through fostering authentic partnerships with students, staff, families and the wider community.
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
