We are seeking a motivated and experienced Engineering Technical Officer - Traffic to join our Engineering Services team. This exciting opportunity will see you provide professional engineering and technical advice on traffic and road safety matters while contributing to the planning, management and improvement of the Shire's transport network.

In this role you will have the following accountabilities:

• Develop and manage a program for the collection of traffic data across the Shire's road network.

• Coordinate the collection, review, analysis and reporting of traffic data.

• Maintain and update the Shire's traffic database and mapping systems.

• Conduct and assist with site inspections relating to traffic, pedestrian and vehicle safety.

• Review Traffic Management Plans, Development Applications and public utility proposals relating to traffic, parking and pedestrian movement.

• Investigate and assess traffic and road safety matters and provide specialist recommendations.

• Respond to community enquiries and complaints regarding traffic management and road safety issues.

• Assist in the identification and implementation of traffic management solutions to improve the efficiency and safety of the transport network.

• Review road safety audit reports and coordinate responses to audit findings.

• Organise traffic surveys and assessment of survey outcomes.

• Ensure traffic, parking and transportation matters are managed in accordance with legislation, Council policies and relevant standards.

• Maintain accurate project documentation and records in accordance with record management requirements.

• Promote and comply with workplace health and safety responsibilities and requirements..

Our preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate the following experiences and skillset:

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering or a related discipline with a minimum of three years' experience in a similar role.

• Extensive knowledge of traffic engineering, transport network operations, traffic management, road safety standards and strategic transport planning.

• Demonstrated experience applying traffic engineering technologies, software and industry practices.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing, negotiation and stakeholder engagement.

• Well-developed organisational and time management skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to build positive and professional relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

• Current "C" Class Driver's Licence.

• Advanced Work Site Traffic Management Accreditation.

The following will be highly regarded:

• Experience using TechnologyOne software.

• Previous Local Government experience.

• Road Safety Audit Accreditation.
