About this role

About us:

Biloela Maternity Service brings personalised, woman-centred maternity care to families across the Banana Shire. With a dedicated birth suite, postnatal ward, antenatal clinic and Midwifery Group Practice, the service supports women throughout pregnancy, labour, birth and beyond.

Midwives and Medical Officers work closely together, alongside multidisciplinary teams across Central Queensland Health, to provide safe, culturally responsive and evidence-based care. As part of Biloela Hospital, the service also benefits from strong rural healthcare connections, helping local families access quality maternity and specialist care closer to home.

About the role:

• Deliver woman-centred, evidence-based midwifery care across the full scope of practice, supporting continuity of carer throughout the maternity journey.

• Provide safe, high-quality and culturally responsive care, working collaboratively with medical, allied health and multidisciplinary teams.

• Support clinical excellence and quality standards, contributing to audits, data collection, quality improvement and compliance with maternity guidelines and CQHHS policies.

• Strengthen the midwifery team, contributing to professional development, mentoring students and new graduates, and supporting a positive team culture.

• Lead and improve practice, using evidence, clinical expertise and problem-solving to review care processes and enhance outcomes for women and families.

About you:

• Current Registered Midwife registration with NMBA via AHPRA; endorsement for scheduled medicines or working towards endorsement is highly regarded.

• Woman-centred, compassionate care, with strong planning and coordination skills to deliver safe, individualised care and achieve the best outcomes for women and families.

• Evidence-based and culturally safe practice, grounded in current research, health equity, primary healthcare principles and respect for diverse cultural needs.

• Strong collaboration and communication, building positive relationships with women, families, colleagues and multidisciplinary teams to support shared decision-making and best-practice care.
