As Senior Management Accountant, you will play a key leadership role in shaping Council's financial future, providing strategic advice, leading a high-performing team, and driving budgeting, financial planning and reporting activities that support sustainable growth and sound decision-making.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Financial Officer, this senior leadership position is responsible for leading Council's Management Accounting team and delivering high-quality budgeting, financial planning, reporting, governance and business partnering services. The role supports informed organisational decision-making, legislative compliance and long-term financial sustainability while driving continuous improvement across financial systems, processes and controls.

Essential:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in an accounting related discipline and extensive experience in senior finance role

• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop a finance team with proven outcomes.

• Expert knowledge and experience in budgeting, financial management and statutory reporting

• Demonstrated experience and understanding of Long-term financial planning

• Extensive knowledge and experience in applying accounting policies, principles and accounting standards

• Demonstrated experience in implementing and understanding of electronic budget systems

• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with good analytical and data interpretation skills

• Demonstrated ability to apply EEO, WHS and ethical practice principles and to act with probity at all times

Desirable:

• Previous Local Government experience in a senior financial role

• Sound financial knowledge of Section 94 planning
