About the role

This is a Fixed Term Position until 30 July 2027.

As the Senior Project Officer, Commercial and Local Ports, you will support the planning, policy development, and delivery of projects that strengthen Victoria’s port and freight networks. Key responsibilities include progressing the long-term planning and protection of Victoria’s second container port at Bay West and developing landside access plans for Victoria’s commercial trading ports.

The role involves working closely with government departments, port managers, industry stakeholders, and local councils to provide strategic advice, manage complex projects, and support freight precinct development, local port reform, and broader initiatives that align with Victoria’s long-term freight and port objectives.

Qualifications and experience

You’ll bring:

• Experience working in or with government organisations, including independent agencies.

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant or related discipline.

• An understanding of government processes, stakeholder engagement and policy or project delivery environments. (if applicable based on the overall role context)
