Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth). An opportunity has become available for a qualified Social Worker or Psychologist to join our Sexual Assault Service. The Sexual Assault Service is aligned with Prevention and Response to Violence Abuse and Neglect (PARVAN) which develops policy and supports services for children, young people and adults who are victims of violence, abuse or neglect. This therapeutic role will suit applicants seeking to develop their skills in working with people impacted by trauma. The successful candidate will join a highly supportive tertiary trauma counselling service that provides ongoing professional development and supports the development of specialised skills in this area. You will receive substantial internal and external clinical supervision, peer support and cultural supervision. The Sexual Assault Trauma Counsellor is responsible for the provision of specialist therapeutic and case management services primarily to adults and children who have been sexually assaulted, but also to wider Violence Abuse and Neglect (VAN) presentations. The role will entail both crisis and ongoing counselling interventions, triage, assessment, advocacy, case work, training facilitation and community development work. The Counsellor will also participate in the provision of a 24/7 crisis counselling roster. What you will bring to the role * Qualification: • Social Work: Degree in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or • Psychology: A four year degree in psychology, being a three year degree with a fourth year honours in psychology; or qualifications deemed equivalent by the employer, and full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, or • Counselling: Minimum AQF level 7 qualification recognised or accredited by the Peak Body (PACFA) with eligibility for membership as a counsellor with PACFA. Being female is recognised as a genuine occupation qualification for this position and is authorised under section 31(2h) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. * Demonstrated client-centred psychosocial assessment skills that support exploration of complex and sensitive presentation content. * Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed care interventions for victims of violence, abuse and neglect. * Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them. * Demonstrated task and time management, clinical record-keeping, and computer skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date clinical documentation. * Knowledge and understanding of current policies and legislation relating to violence, abuse and neglect. * Demonstrated ability to both monitor and communicate issues concerning own wellbeing and/or clinical performance with clinical supervisors and managers to actively identify areas for support. * Current NSW State driver's licence (including P1 or above) with willingness to use for work purposes and ability to attend Nepean Hospital within 1 hour as required in participation of 24/7 crisis roster.
