About the role

Job Location: 2 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne The Spatial Data Editor supports the maintenance and accuracy of Vicmap Planning, Victoria's authoritative planning scheme mapping database. The role processes planning scheme amendments, produces definition plans and mapping, manages customer requests, and ensures planning data is accurate, current and ready for publication through effective quality assurance.

Working closely with planning teams, local councils, surveyors and other stakeholders, the role provides timely advice, resolves mapping issues and supports data improvement initiatives. It also contributes to quality standards, consistent technical practices and collaborative team outcomes to maintain the integrity and reliability of Victoria's planning mapping products.

You’re someone who:

• Has strong data skills and can use Excel to analyse information, create data visualisations and support informed decision-making.

• Delivers work efficiently by managing priorities, maintaining accurate records and meeting deadlines.

• Uses critical thinking to solve problems, follows established processes and seeks guidance when needed.

• Builds positive relationships with stakeholders by providing responsive service, resolving issues and working across teams.

• Works collaboratively, shares knowledge, supports colleagues and contributes to achieving team goals.

Qualifications and experience

You’ll bring:

• Relevant tertiary and/or industry qualifications e.g. geoinformatics, spatial sciences, information technology, computer science, engineering (Mandatory).

• Relevant experience in Victorian planning context and in the acquisition of spatial data products in government (Desirable).

• Relevant experience using ArcGIS suite of technologies is highly regarded. Experience using other GIS software will be considered (Desirable).

• Experience using Vicmap Data Products and Services would be advantageous (Desirable).
