Details: We’re seeking a capable, motivated and collaborative leader who enjoys bringing clarity to complex analytical work and transforming data into meaningful insights. You will lead a small team responsible for the collection, management, analysis and interpretation of ACT education data, ensuring high-quality outputs that support evidence informed decisions across the Directorate. The role involves maintaining clear and accurate analytical documentation, coordinating with schools and external partners, and preparing and prioritising data requests - often balancing competing demands. The position also contributes to government business by preparing briefs, reports and updates for executives, supporting evidence informed decision making, and managing analytical workflows to keep projects moving. The Assistant Director oversees data quality assurance, monitors progress and risks, and provides leadership and guidance to staff, responding flexibly to shifting priorities. The role works closely with colleagues across policy, operations and schools to ensure effective coordination of branch activities and the delivery of high-quality outcomes that support improved educational equity and achievement for ACT students. Eligibility/Other Requirements: • Qualifications in Law from an Australian tertiary institution, or a comparable overseas qualification, and/or experience in providing legal policy support, are desirable.

Note: This is a temporary position available immediately until 28 May 2027 with the possibility of permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
